“My name is Jerome and I am writing this on behalf of my sister, Joanne and her daughter Hi’ilani who are both born and raised in Lahaina. Joanne has worked at Kimos on front street for 11 years and worked her way from the bottom up to restaurant manager. Due to the fires that have taken all the homes of our friends and family, it has also taken her only place of employment. She is a hard working single mother that provides stability for her home and unfortunately bills do not stop. She was on front street when everything happened. There was a woman in front of her that abandoned her car and stopped traffic. In the midst of the chaos she jumped out of her car to move the car in front of her, and cleared traffic for dozens of other cars. She managed to save a woman and her granddaughter, along with an uncle who was unable to walk. She made sure her daughter Hi’ilani found a safe ride back to Honokowai, but was afraid that she would never see her again in the whole process. Any donations big or small is greatly appreciate.
